About Us

Rand FormulaCAW Local 200 Retired Workers Chapter received its charter on December 28, 1966 and represents almost 3000 retirees.

Our chapter is a very active group of activists dedicated to representing the interests of all retired workers, as the issues facing one retired worker are the issues facing all retired workers, unionized or not.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 10 am at the CAW Local 200/444 Union Hall, 1855 Turner Rd.

Our Executive

Chair – Herb John: Herb worked at Ford from Jan 29th 1973 till May 1st 2003. After 10 years on the floor he was elected for the next 20 years to various positions including #3 and #2 Shift Committeeperson, Plant Chairperson and Trustee on the Local Executive Board. Herb was involved with Environmental organizations such as Local 200 Environment Committee, the Citizens Environment Alliance, the C.A.W. Windsor Regional Environment Council, Windsor/Essex County Earth Day Committee and Earth Day Canada. Herb’s political activities started at age 14 as a member of the Windsor N.D.P. Youth Group that met downtown at the old Local 195 Hall.

Since retiring he has been elected Vice-chairperson and currently Chairperson of the C.A.W. Local 200 Retired Workers Chapter. He was also recently elected Vice-Chairperson of the Essex Kent/Windsor C.A.W. Area Retired Workers Council.

This spirit of activism was developed as a teen in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s when the Peace and Environmental movements were making huge changes in the development of our social values. Herb believes that these ARE STILL THE MAIN FOCUS FOR CHANGE.

Herb has 3 daughters, 1 son and 3 grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family and working in the yard and garden. Herb, his partner Yolanda and their son Theo live on Walpole Island First Nation.

Webmasters Report

Over the past several months, Brother Herb John & myself have been developing an idea that we discussed while at the OFUR Convention in April. We wanted to improve the chapter’s ability to communicate affectively with our retired workers. We also wanted to have a web presence that was relatively easy to build & maintain, while at the same time was easy for all users to find the info they needed.

This site is the culmination of those efforts.

In peace & solidarity,
Rob McLean
